This passion project came to fruition after a phone call from someone I love.

While talking to my mom one day in the early summer of 2022 she broken heartedly told me my dad was going to sell his beloved pianos. He could no longer play them due to severe nerve pain in his hands. My dad has played blues piano since before I could crawl and the idea of this was unbearably heartbreaking. All I could remember him dreaming of doing in his retirement was writing and playing music on his big antique pianos. During this heart breaking conversation I managed to convince my mom to not let him sell them and to give me until Christmas time to come up with something, anything I could, to help him. Even if it was just a little.

In the coming months I read everything I could find on how to heal nerve pain from chronic over use of various body parts. I found creams with this, creams with that, pills for this, pills for that….. etc.. Without any luck I started looking into natural remedies turning back to what Mother Earth intended.  This seemed hopeful but nothing I found really seemed like it was going to do it alone. What I was looking for all in one jar, I couldn’t find. So, through months of planning and research I came up with a plan. I would have to make it myself. I had until Christmas for trial and error.

When I presented him on Christmas morning with that virgin batch of pain cream from all of this concocting he was surprised but didn’t seem overly hopeful. He is not a fan of slimey creams or ointments or anything topical but he was willing to try it and humour me at least once. He applied it on his hands and massaged it in. And then we waited……. 15-20 min later I asked …? So? Does it help at all? Actually he replied, they don’t hurt at all any more! I was so excited for him, it was truly amazing!

After this original batch began the practice of trial and error to make it better and better, the best it could be moving forward for him. His friends would try his and then ask for some and my only request was a report back on it. Many batches later here we are.
